Request deletion of your data
Email support@readhouse.app and tell us whether you want your Readhouse account, support or tester records deleted. You can also request account deletion in Account & sync in the app or web reader. Use the address involved where possible so we can locate the records. We may ask for limited information to verify the request; never send a password or private book. If an older app asks you to update or contact support, use the updated web reader or the email address above.
To request deletion of synced reader settings while keeping your account, open the updated web reader and choose Account & sync → Request deletion of data. Recording or reviewing a request does not erase data. Currently, only synced reader settings and their associated cloud sync history can be erased through this workflow, after separate administrator review and explicit confirmation. Other categories remain requests for review only.
Completion keeps your account, books, notes and reading positions. Updated readers reset their local settings when they next sync; older device copies may remain. Settings sync stays paused until you choose Resume preference sync for new settings changes. Backups and provider-held copies are outside this completion.
We remove the support messages and tester contact/feedback records we hold unless an unresolved request, security incident or legal obligation requires us to keep relevant information longer. Ordinary support records are otherwise kept for up to 90 days after the last support activity; tester contacts are removed within 30 days after participation ends. Non-identifying bug summaries may be kept. Email-provider trash, backups and third-party service records have separate retention.
Android can open local books without an account; the web reader requires sign-in. In 0.14.0 and later, signing in automatically stores your original book files, library metadata, saved notes and highlights, reading positions and preferences privately with your account. Account deletion revokes sessions and queues removal of synced book files, reading records and private generated audio. Cloud exports expire after 24 hours; private narration cache entries expire after seven days. Encrypted recovery backups have separate retention without a fixed automatic expiry yet.
Android’s Clear storage, uninstalling, or clearing the web reader’s site data removes local copies; it does not delete your cloud account. Original files and exported backups stay where you saved them until you delete those copies. Read the privacy policy for account records, backups, service logs and external-provider choices.
Report a problem
Tell us your Readhouse version, phone model, Android version, and the steps that led to the problem. Describe what you expected and what happened instead.
You do not need to send your book, selected passages, or private notes. Please crop screenshots to remove personal information. Never send passwords or signing-in codes.
Before removing the app
In 0.14.0 and later, sign in for free and keep the reader open until your books and reading changes finish syncing. Verify that your books open and your saved notes, reading position and preferences return on another device before removing the app. Older builds do not sync original book files. Keep your originals and a private safety backup; clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local copies, including changes that have not finished syncing.
Having trouble importing?
Start with a DRM-free EPUB that you can lawfully use. Readhouse does not remove DRM or sell books. If a document cannot be read, tell us its file format and the error message; keep the original file private.
Joining the closed test
Enrollment is being prepared. A Play link works only after the correct Google account has been enrolled. The existing internal test is a separate track; its participation does not start the closed-test period.
Privacy and families
See the privacy policy for local storage, optional external services, and deletion choices. Parents and guardians can use the same support contact for privacy questions. A Discord account is not needed for support.
